In The NewsStrengthening the Standard: Madison High School Educators Advance Industry Credentials
Madison High School proudly salutes Ms. Angela Johnson, Dr. Closetta Redden, and Mrs. Melindy Tano for obtaining their most recent professional certifications: the BASF Plant Science Certification and the NRCS Fundamentals of Conservation & Sustainability in Agriculture Certification.
By becoming credentialed in these high-demand areas, these educators are strengthening Madison High School’s Industry-Based Credential (IBC) Focus List and expanding opportunities for our scholars to earn stackable credentials. Each credential earned adds measurable value to a scholar’s skill set, increases workforce readiness, and enhances competitiveness in today’s job market.
We commend Ms. Johnson, Dr. Redden, and Mrs. Tano for their commitment to professional growth and for their continued dedication to preparing Madison High School scholars for college, careers, and life beyond the classroom.
We are Madison High School—the Standard!

After-School Tutorial Students Participate in University Visits to Prepare for College
Students participating in after-school tutorial programs were recently afforded the opportunity to visit several universities as part of a High School Day college tour experience. These visits were designed to help students prepare for life after high school by exposing them to college campuses and providing insight into what to expect in higher education.
During the university visits, students explored campus facilities, attended informational sessions, and learned about academic programs, admissions requirements, and student life. The experience allowed students to ask questions, interact with college representatives, and gain a better understanding of the expectations and responsibilities of college students.
The college tours served as an extension of the after-school tutorial program’s mission to support academic growth while encouraging long-term goal setting. By participating in High School Days, students were able to envision themselves in a college environment, build confidence, and begin planning for their future educational pathways.
These university visits reflect a commitment to college and career readiness by providing students with meaningful experiences beyond the classroom. The after-school tutorial program continues to support students by offering academic assistance, enrichment opportunities, and exposure to postsecondary options that prepare them for future success.
The Varsity Boys team continues to make history this season, remaining undefeated with a perfect 20–0 standing. With each game, the team has demonstrated exceptional skill, discipline, and determination, solidifying their place as one of the strongest programs this year.
From the opening tip to the final buzzer, the players have shown outstanding teamwork and resilience. Their success is driven by strong defensive effort, consistent scoring, and an unselfish approach to the game. Every athlete has stepped up when it mattered most, contributing to the team’s continued dominance on the court.
Equally instrumental to this achievement is the dedication and leadership of the coaching staff. Their commitment to preparation, strategy, and player development has helped shape a culture of excellence and accountability.
As the season progresses, the Varsity Boys remain focused and hungry for more, determined to protect their undefeated record while continuing to grow as a team. With momentum on their side and the support of the school and community behind them, this remarkable 20–0 run is a season to remember.

The Madison Varsity Boys Basketball team has etched its name into the history books with an extraordinary and historic achievement. Madison proudly became the first non-Ouachita Parish school to win the event since 2018, marking a milestone that will be remembered for years to come.
Throughout the tournament, the Jaguars displayed determination, discipline, and exceptional teamwork. Each game reflected the hard work and preparation poured in by the players and coaching staff, as well as the strong character that defines Madison athletics. This historic victory is a testament not only to athletic talent, but also to perseverance and unity.
Congratulations to Coach Holmes and his dedicated coaching staff for their leadership, commitment, and belief in their team. Their guidance on and off the court played a vital role in this remarkable accomplishment.
A special commendation goes to our scholar-athletes, who continue to excel both academically and athletically. Their dedication in the classroom and on the court exemplifies what it means to represent Madison with pride and integrity.
This historic win is more than a championship—it is a celebration of hard work, teamwork, and Jaguar pride. Well done, Madison Varsity Boys. History has been made.
